Alan’s Moira takes its name from the Greek word moira (μοῖρα) “destiny” and from the English possessive apostrophe (Alan’s), thus referring to the destiny of its main character, Alan. A destiny that will play an important role in the story and the events that unfold around him. The correct translation into English would therefore be “Alan’s Destiny”
The story takes place in the year 2056, a time when planet Earth is in decline and, thanks to advancements in the space race, humanity has managed to establish a primitive base on Mars with the mission of transforming the planet and adapting it for future large-scale colonization.
However, all of this is thwarted after the sudden attack of an alien race on Earth, from which our young protagonist, on the brink of death, escapes. He is soon intercepted by another ship, but ultimately manages to flee to the Martian planet in an escape pod. It is here that Alan begins an unrelenting battle against the invaders to save the human race.
Developed in just 3 months part-time and without any prior knowledge of either video game development or Unity, Alan’s Moira it represents my first video game. Thanks to it, I have entered the world of video game development and the processes it involves, creating from scratch the story, dialogues, graphic components, animations, cutscenes, enemy AI, and, ultimately, everything that goes into developing a video game.
